One of the biggest goals I try to teach my clients is to listen to their body. More intuition and less force. This approach helps your body slide naturally into a happy place where optimal function is achieved.
Our bodies are programmed through millions of years of selection pressure to be healthy and work to our advantage. In our fast-paced world full of modern conveniences and less than optimal lifestyle patterns that become habits, we have to learn how to give our bodies the correct signals in order to promote optimal gene expression. For women, optimal metabolism function is the key to determining which lifestyle methods will serve you the best for weight loss, brain function, and overall wellness.
We are hard-wired with a system that raises a red flag if our metabolism is suffering an imbalance. Learning what the warning signs are and being able to notice the changes before they get out of hand can allow you to make small adjustments to your lifestyle with large positive outcomes. The following are all signs that your metabolism may benefit from a few adjustments.
Cravings
Excess Body Weight
Low or Inconsistent Energy Levels
Constant Hunger
Water Retention
Mood Issues
Impaired Digestive Function
Impaired Menstrual Function
Impaired Sexual Function
If any of these signs of imbalance are issues that are a constant in your life, making some simple adjustments may be all it takes to alleviate many of the negative symptoms. These changes can include eating more or less calories than you are currently, taking a look at your macronutrients and adjusting as necessary, and possibly looking into food quality and food sensitivity issues. Although you cannot "change" your metabolism the way social media influencers promise, you can absolutely become more metabolically efficient.
You know your body better than any professional and you truly can use your knowledge to get closer to the health you want. If you have been noticing signals your body is giving you, feel confident in having the ability to listen, and know that you are doing the right thing.
If you have questions on metabolism red flags and also how to make changes, I am always available to offer support and guidance.
Remember to prioritize your health!
